No, the title is not a clever analogy to something political. Something very serious happened to me a few days ago. I was put on to medication (specifically Abilify and Lexapro) for my Mania, Bi-polar disorder, and Depression. Now, I haven't taken it since, and here's why. It all started after my appointment, I was given the medication (without being explained the side effects), when I went home, I got something to drink and eat, and I took the pills. Okay, for a while nothing happened. We went to the Social Security office, and I filled out a form for a social security care, but they said I needed an ID, but you can't get an ID without a social security card, so they gave me a temporary thing so I could go get an ID. Anyways, we got in the van (my mom, my big sister, and my little sisters), and we went on our way to Grandma and Grandpa's house, I had my first seizure in the van, I though I was a sleep while I was having it, my mom said that my eyes were wide open and I had my head on my chest and I was breathing really hard, she thought I was playing with the girls, until I grabbed her hand really hard. When we got there, I went into the extra bedroom (dubbed "Grandpa's room") to lie down, and rest. According to my grandmother, I had several more seizures (I don't remember then, so I don't know), anyways, after a while, Grandma wanted us to get the hell out so "she could leave with Grandpa", what a nice grandmother. Anyways, it was about time for my little sisters to get out of school (they are in preschool and kindergarten), so we started heading towards the our house (the school is right up the street from where I live), my mom just wanted to call the ambulance when we got home, but my big sister Kelly insisted that mom just turn around and go to the hospital behind her (she doesn't like said hospital, because her Grandma died there, when she was unattended), but that's what we ended up doing. And it was a good thing too. They had to put me in pediatrics, because, believe it or not, it was the only room left open, a busy day at the hospital. Anyways, I got stuck multiple times, for an IV, because they could not find a vein, they thought I was dehydrated (Ironic, because I drank half a gallon of water that morning, yes, I drink alot of water). They started pumping something into my blood, but I don't know what it was. I don't think I'd ever had that many shots before. It hurt. But, compared to dying, I'm say it was worth it. I was shaky, I was sweating, I was vommiting, I was having seizures, and oddly enough, I was cold, but I wanted cold air on me. I was very pale looking apparently (my flesh usually has a reddish tint), so it really sucked. But, what was even more odd, was that my blood pressure was normal, my pulse was normal, and I didn't have a fever (that was probably because of the excessive sweating). Anyways, I know most of you know this, but so this doesn't happen to you, please ask your presciber what the side effects of the medications are before you take them. I probably should have. I know I'm never taking those again, though. Thank you

most side effects only affect a minority of patients. but the problem is those minority patients are the ones that need to know. i don't think i've ever been told by a doctor any side effects of anything i've taken. hope you feel better soon.
@NightlyDreams - yeah, I checked that. I don't know whether or not to be angry at the lady, I mean, I should've asked. The doctors don't know how you're going to react. I mean, I honestly never felt so physically bad in my life, I'm lucky to be alive, because my mom went through the same deal, she was given a medication, and she had similar effects on her, and she really almost died. I'm glad I'm still alive, I am so grateful. I'm fine now though, I guess. Still got a bit of a headache, but compared to a couple of days ago, I'm in bliss.
@adamcharles - doctors aren't taught like they use to be. they aren't taught to cure they are taught to cover up symptoms. give someone a pill makes someone else some money and alleviates the symptom but doesn't stop the problem. the problem is the cures of the problems get lost after so long of just covering the problems up. glad you are ok though... don't know if anyones to blame.
@NightlyDreams - Yeah, I suppose you're right. I'm certainly glad I was with my mom instead of at home. Who knows what could have happened if I hadn't gotten to the hospital.
@adamcharles - i guess instances such as health problems kind of give you a new look on things too. thankful for family knowing they care and want you here is good.
